Fully working Motorola RAZR V3 Retro Launcher for any Android phone

It's my first post in a really long time. I never stopped collecting and loving Motorola, and you can still see me actively post on social media (@motorolalovers), but it's the perfect time to come back to this website and promote something that true RAZR fans have been waiting for long. I recently came across a Reddit post, after a long quest for a retro launcher based on the original RAZR V3, and a very interesting post that didn't gain much traction caught my eye: a very talented developer had worked on an Enhanced RetroRazr launcher for Android (9+), inspired by the iconic RAZR V3 UI.

The source is open on GitHub: mhous33’s “motorazr” repo (GitHub). For Motorola fans, this feels like something we’ve been waiting years for. While Motorola’s foldable razr phones came with a “Retro Mode” feature since 2019, it never did much beyond visuals—it looked cool, but you couldn’t really live in that mode, and what's worse, for the 2025 RAZR Ultra phones, the Retro Mode wasn't responsive to the new screen size and looked totally out of proportion. This new launcher, by contrast, reimagines the Razr V3 firmware’s UI and makes it usable on any Android device. It even looks good on conventional non-foldable devices.

What makes it more than a nostalgic skin: it actually brings back functionality. According to the repository, it scales the classic UI to any screen resolution; it has a main menu, personalization options (show/hide home screen icons, choose clock layout, set skin, wallpaper, wallpaper preview layout), screen saver and delay settings, even support for using it as a full launcher. The visual touches, the sound and boot-animation bits people miss, are part of it too.

You can see it in action in this video I posted a few days ago, which is getting close to 100,000 views, showing the potential of this:

This feels like the first time the V3 nostalgia has been done right—not just for show or to boost sales, but something you can actually use every day. Motorola, please take notes. There's a reason the Vortex V3 phone sold out in minutes in Amazon earlier this year. People want a true RAZR. Yes, the foldable razr series is beautiful and the best foldable phones out there, but it's time to bring back nostalgia the right way.

Thanks @mhous33 for this development. Motorola fans will be forever be thankful for this.
